One Person: Every Channel

One Person: Every Channel

Verified contacts often come back with more than one email and phone. Here's where the alternates live, how to promote the right one to primary, and how they travel into your CRM.

One person is never one email

Real contacts are plural. The VP you're chasing has the corporate address on the website, the older one that still works, a mobile, and the office line that rings to reception. When InsightSignal verifies a person across multiple sources, it often comes back with several of each — and instead of silently picking one and discarding the rest, it keeps them all, verified and labeled.

That's the tip in one line: the alternates are already there. Here's where they live and what to do with them.

Where the alternates live

Open any contact's Person Profile and find the contact panel — pinned in the right rail on desktop, directly under the header on mobile so it's never buried. Email, phone, and LinkedIn each carry a deliverability or validity badge, a freshness indicator, and a source label showing where the value came from. Alternate emails and phones appear right alongside the primary, each with the same treatment.

No spelunking through raw export columns — every channel for the person, with its evidence, in one panel.

"Set primary" — the one-click promotion

Next to each alternate is a Set primary action. Click it and that channel becomes the person's primary; the old primary steps down to an alternate. Nothing is deleted — the channels just swap seats.

  • The verified work email bounced once? Promote the deliverable alternate and keep moving.
  • A direct mobile beats the switchboard number for a closing-stage deal — make it primary before the push.
  • Prospect moved companies and the personal address is the one that survives? One click.

The primary is what leads everywhere downstream — exports, pushes, outreach lists — so this tiny control is really routing control for your whole workflow.

How alternates travel into your CRM

On a direct CRM push, the alternates come along with the primary — and never overwrite it. Where they land depends on what the target CRM natively supports:

  • Native secondary slots. Nutshell and Pipedrive have built-in places for extra emails and phones, so alternates land there.
  • Dedicated fields, created for you. HubSpot, Salesforce, Freshsales, and Monday.com get "Alternate Emails" / "Alternate Phones" fields that the push creates automatically — each value labeled with where it came from.

The trust rule underneath it all: your chosen primary email and phone stay exactly as chosen. A push adds channels; it never second-guesses the one you promoted.

Reachability is a portfolio, not a field

A contact with one email is one bounce away from unreachable. A contact with a verified primary, a deliverable alternate, and a valid mobile is a person you can actually reach — whichever channel this week favors. InsightSignal's job is to hand you that whole portfolio with evidence attached; Set primary is how you steer it.
