Freshsales: Full Circle

Freshsales: Full Circle

Source records out of Freshsales, verify them, push them back enriched, and watch Won/Lost outcomes flow home to your ROI report. Freshsales just became the first CRM InsightSignal connects in every direction.

A one-way integration is a one-way mirror

Most CRM integrations push and go quiet. Data flows in, deals play out, and the tool that supplied the data never learns what happened — so it can never tell you whether the data was worth paying for. That was the argument of close the loop: two-way CRM sync, and when it ran, Freshsales was the exception on the list: a solid push destination that couldn't send anything back.

Three releases later, the exception has flipped. Freshsales is now the most completely connected CRM on the platform — the first one InsightSignal can source from, push to, hear back from, and round-trip by CSV. Out, in, and back again.

Four directions, one CRM
  • 1. Source from it. Pull your own Freshsales lists into InsightSignal for free, review what came out, and verify only the records you keep. This is the new Source from your CRM feature, and Freshsales is its launch CRM — the full walkthrough is in Your Next Best Lead. It's Already in Your CRM.
  • 2. Push to it. Verified companies land as Sales Accounts, contacts auto-link to them, research arrives as Notes, high-grade accounts become Deals, and quality signals apply as custom fields and tags. Covered in depth in the original Freshsales post.
  • 3. Hear back from it. Deal Won and Deal Lost outcomes — including the deal's revenue amount — flow back into InsightSignal and power the CRM ROI report. More on this below.
  • 4. Round-trip by CSV. Prefer imports? On the Companies or People page, select rows, click Export, and pick the Freshsales preset — a CSV laid out for Freshsales's importer, so it maps cleanly on the way back in.
The direction that answers the money question

Inbound is the direction worth pausing on. When a deal closes Won or Lost in Freshsales, that outcome — with its revenue amount — lands back on the matching InsightSignal company: a green Won or red Lost badge on the company, a filterable "CRM outcome" chip on the companies list, and a line in the ROI math.

That's what turns an integration into a feedback loop. InsightSignal can now show which verified, high-grade records actually turned into revenue — the "did the data pay for itself?" question, answered inside the product instead of in a quarterly spreadsheet argument.

The honest setup note

Be aware before you start: Freshsales inbound is a few-minute manual setup, not the one-click "Enable Inbound Sync" toggle that Nutshell, Monday.com, Pipedrive, and HubSpot get. Freshsales offers no way for InsightSignal to register the events automatically, so you wire it up once yourself — InsightSignal gives you one callback URL and one secret, and you create two Deals Workflows in Freshsales:

  • 1. On the Freshsales card (Integrations → Browse → Push to CRM), click Enable Inbound Sync. A panel shows one callback URL, a custom-header secret, and the fields to send.
  • 2. In Freshsales, go to Admin Settings → Workflows and create two Deals Workflows — one triggered on your Won stage, one on your Lost stage. Both use the same URL and secret; only the trigger stage differs.
  • 3. In each, add a Webhook action: POST, the callback URL, the secret as a custom header, JSON encoding — and be sure to include the Probability field. InsightSignal reads it (Won = 100, Lost = 0) to tell the outcomes apart, which is why one URL serves both workflows.

After that it's automatic. You can rotate the secret from the panel without disconnecting (the old one keeps working for 48 hours while you update the workflows), and you can disable inbound any time from the Freshsales card without touching outbound push — re-enabling reuses the same URL and secret, so the workflows never need editing twice. One scope note: inbound covers Deal Won and Deal Lost. Contact or account changes don't sync back.

Still a key and a domain

None of this changes how Freshsales connects: an API key plus your Freshworks domain, per user, exactly as before — no OAuth popup. If you haven't connected yet, start with setting up CRM integrations; the sourcing card and the inbound panel both hang off that same single connection.

The first full-circle CRM

Records come out of Freshsales, get verified and graded, go back in enriched, and the outcomes come home with revenue attached. Every direction feeds the next: sourcing finds what's worth verifying, push puts the proof where reps work, inbound tells you whether the proof paid off.
